About the art
The beauty about creativity and visual art in particular is that it allows you to take real life memories, images and experiences and reimagine them. Some of the best things we experience or have the privilege to witness are fleeting and temporary. Once painted, they become everlasting instead of ephemeral.
One of the ways in which I learn the most about my subconscious and myself is through my dreams. As we know, dreams start disappearing faster than we can piece them together upon waking. Writing about them or forming a visual breathes some life into them. When I paint, I take the realistic aspects of my day-to-day life, dreams and even other forms of art that speak to me and explore them.
Surreal is a broad term to describe the style my work fits into. Dreamscape might be more specific. Oscar Wilde’s most commonly quoted idea is that “life imitates art”. We tend to wander through life reading, watching, and listening to ideas, memories and imaginings that have been immortalized in art form and we reenact and recreate them in our being. Through this, the cycle continues, of art and life borrowing and reflecting off of each other. I find it to be a beautiful thing and I’m here to be a part of the process.
As well as creating pieces that are solely personal to me, I collaborate with many clients on commissioned artwork. This has given me the chance to form extremely special relationships where I've had the chance to share and understand an artistic vision. It's a fulfilling challenge to be able to be trusted to create an art piece that speaks to and of a specific person while also being able to have my creativity expressed through it.
